Entry 8
Alex ran as fast as he could, his feet kicking up dirt behind him. Approaching quickly was the deep green of forest leaves, shinning in the summer sun. He hadn't seen wild trees since his mother fell ill. Now, with his eyes full of the greenery, his heart ached just to be under the shade of those limbs. He felt the difference as soon as he was in the shade. He stopped suddely as his skin cooled, dust wirled past him, sarounding him. He stood in the middle of the road as the dirt cleared, his head tilted back, looking up at the leaves with a grin on his face. He closed his eyes and took a long, deep breath. Then he threw his arms out and let out a long, loud yell. Startled, birds flew from their perches, chirping exitedly. Squirrels tuttered at him angrily from their branches. As his breath ended he ran, grinning and laughing. he flipped, then cart-wheeled, then jumped as high and far as he could, laughing the whole time.
"Home!" he cried, "I'm home!"
