These are some poems dedicated to friends and family.
I wrote this poem for a very good friend of mine named Caleb, he is more like a brother to me and I love him very much.
The Gift
I always smile when I think,
Of the wonderful gift I got,
No it’s not a fancy car,
Or anything that is bought,
The gift is not a bundle of money,
The gift is not a toy,
The gift isn’t a special skill,
The gift is a beloved boy,
No he isn’t my father,
My brother or my son,
The gift is a special person,
Loved by everyone,
He has strength inside himself,
And a heart of gold,
He has the warmest personality,
Incapable of being cold,
He always smiles at passers-by,
Never failing to be nice,
I can always look to him,
When I need good advice,
He sometimes shields things from me,
To try and spare my pain,
He looks before he leaps,
Never doing things in vain,
Sometimes we get angry,
Our argument creates a rift,
But we always get over it,
Because he is my gift.
I wrote this poem for my best friend Jamie to show her how much I appreciate all that she's done for me.
I wrote this little poem,
A gift from me to you,
To show how much I care,
And what we have been through,
I was your shoulder to cry on,
And you have always been mine,
You were the priceless treasure,
That I always wanted to find,
You give me the gift of happiness,
Your presence and your grace,
Your beauty and your confidence,
Your endless trust and faith,
You have given me everything,
And changed my negative thoughts,
You have been my savior,
In times that I was lost,
You are like a knight,
Strong and very brave,
You took pity on me,
The girl no one wanted to save,
But somehow you rescued me,
My life you helped defend,
And I am in your debt because,
You have given me a friend.
I wrote this poem for my friend Toby when his dad died.
Standing Proudly
I sat there and I watched you,
Standing tall and proud,
I couldn’t help but smile,
From my place out in the crowd,
If I hadn’t known about your dad,
I couldn’t even tell,
The sorrow that you feel inside,
You masked it all too well,
You and I both wear a mask,
The plastic face we show,
To those we can’t trust with our pain,
To those that cannot know,
You will find it hard not to hide,
From all the hurt that you keep,
The sorrow you don’t understand,
The secret pain so deep,
But when that pain was so strong,
You didn’t run or hide,
You stood tall next to your brothers,
And held it all inside,
I guess that’s why I admire you,
And care about you dearly,
You look for truths hard to find,
But you see them so clearly,
I looked at you and could almost see,
Your father by your side,
His hand resting on your shoulder,
And his heart swelling with pride,
And Toby no matter what you think,
I know he must be proud,
And so was I as I sat,
And watched you from the crowd,
I wrote this poem for my step mom on her birthday.
I wrote this poem just for you,
To show how much I care,
To wrap my love around your heart,
And always keep it there,
Since I was but a little girl,
You’re the greatest mom I’ve known,
Simply because you took my hand,
And showed I’m not alone,
You never seemed to judge me,
When I did something wrong,
You’ve loved me like a daughter,
And given me a mom,
You are so very beautiful,
But this you fail to see,
You’ve shown me I can be anything,
That my heart chooses to be,
I was mean and hateful once,
But you showed me I can change,
And though I have chosen my path,
Your love has paved the way,
You are so many wonderful things,
A mother, a friend, a wife,
And I am in your debt because,
You made room for me in your life!
