Saying Goodbye is Never Easy.
Yeah;it sucks. I was like 12 when I wrote it, so that explains it xD. I found it sitting in a file on my computer.

Chapter 1: Saying Goodbye is Never Easy.

“Wait up Katelyn!” Molly called, as they chased each other around the swimming pool. “You need to catch up Molly! Put some effort into it! Work harder!” She called back. Katelyn and Molly are and have always been best friends, ever since they met in Xerabolt. These two girls played all day and night, until something happened.

“Katelyn?” Molly called.
“Yeah?”
“I am going to go get some water. Be right back!”
“Okay Molly!” Katelyn smiled, and kept on swimming.

About 5 minutes later Molly came outside and said “Sorry Katelyn, made a stop to the restroo-” Molly screamed, and nearly fell over. Katelyn was there in the pool...but in a pool of red. Molly recklessly took her out of the water and onto the cement.
“Katelyn! Katelyn! Speak to me!” Molly cried. She noticed the large opening in the front of her neck.
“M-Molly.” Katelyn stammered.
“Katelyn! What happened?”
“Bl-black cape. Sw-switchblade.”
“We need to get you to a hospital!”
“No t-time. I am dying Molly.”

Molly felt a cold and wet tear roll down her upset face. Katelyn began to speak.
“Molly. Help m-me.”
“Katelyn! What can I possibly do for you?”
“F-find the killer and re-remember me.”

At that, Katelyn’s eyes slowly and tightly shut, and she lay there on the ground, lifeless. Molly began to scream out, crying harder than she had ever cried before.
“Is this what happens when you love a friend so much more than anything? They slowly glide away from you? Like a leaf in the autumn breeze?” Molly screamed.
“Yes.”
Molly rapidly pivoted, revealing a mysterious man in a black cape. His face was covered, and the only thing that was exposed was an eye as blue as the deep seas. Something shiny and purple peeked out of his garments. It looked creepy in a way.
“This is what happens when one of your friends anger me!” he yelled.
Molly’s sorrowful face turned into an angry scowl.
“YOU” she screamed. Molly ran for him, as if she were going to destroy him, but the man in black put his hand out before her, and an invincible bright blue shield blocked him from harm. Without warning Molly ran into it and instantly was knocked down to the cold, hard cement.
“You think you could destroy me...but you can’t! There is only one way to get rid of me and that in which you will never know.”
Molly still sat on the ground with a scowl on her face.
“Why did you kill Katelyn?!” she yelled.
“Why did she anger me?”
“How did she anger you?”
“Let’s just say she helped you instead of helping me with my duties. She chose YOU over me.”
Molly was appalled.

“That’s why you killed her? Because she chose her best friend over some stranger?”
The man in black began to chuckle.
“Yes. Seems worthy of a murder isn’t it?”
“NO! NOT AT ALL! NOW BE GONE!”
“As you say. But understand. Don’t try to catch me because no matter how hard you try
to get your revenge, I will kill you if you make an attempt.”
With that, the man in black disappeared within a black cloud.

Molly walked back to Katelyn, leaving a trail of tears behind her. She knelt down beside what was once her best friend that she always played with, and always had for comfort. The one who made her laugh, made her excited, and made her happy was now gone. Molly noticed a shimmering light that sparkled in the sun’s rays. She looked at Katelyn, and there it was. A purple and black glowing glass shard, stuck in Katelyn’s neck near the gash. Oddly enough, it looked like a replica of the purple object that the man was carrying in his cape. There was a rapidly growing green mark where the shard had been stuck. Gently, Molly took it out and examined it.

Molly knew that this shard was definitely not normal, so she picked up a ladybug. It wiggled and moved in Molly’s fingertips. As much as Molly loved animals, she would do anything for Katelyn, so she pricked the ladybug with the glowing shard. Instantly the ladybug became motionless and green, just like Katelyn! The green spot was indeed from the shard and was part of the reason Katelyn had died. This glowing shard was definitely not ordinary...it was poisoned.
But where could this come from? Molly wondered.

But one thing was known for sure...it was a clue to destroying Katelyn’s killer, the man in black. Molly knew it would be a treacherous journey to find the man in black. She already knew where he lived. She had heard stories about this killer. He has been in everyone’s tales and even in the news. He lived at the very top of the Eldago Mountains, in the Castle of Shadows. Molly began to shudder, because all of the tales she had heard always ended with the death of what was supposed to be a hero. Nobody ever made it out of the Castle of Shadows alive. Now that Katelyn was gone, Molly had to encourage herself.
“Anything for Katelyn.” Molly repeated. “Anything for Katelyn. Anything for Katelyn. Anything for Katelyn”

She kept on repeating that phrase as she walked though the gate, and had taken a first step onto her life threatening journey.
