Umbrella

Ethan, Keera, Amanda and Denise went to the nail place on Main St, so the girls could get their nails done; Ethan just went along for the ride. Keera sat at a booth away from Denise and Amanda, and Ethan sat next to her, telling her what a great color she picked, she has beautiful hands, "Here, I'll hold your purse," he smiled, "Are you hungry? We'll eat later."
The lady smiled and asked if they were boyfriend and girlfriend, which made Ethan and Keera blush and immediately they both said, "No."
Ethan chuckled nervously and sat with Amanda, who faced him and whispered to him, "I heard what she said."
"I'm so embarrassed."
"Why don't you just tell her?"
"I don't know...She's just so tough, you know?"
"Isn't that what you like about her?"
"I love that about her, yes, but I'm afraid of rejection."
"She won't reject you, Ethan--be confident."
He sighed and looked over at Keera, who was still red. Ethan smiled to himself and turned to Amanda again, "I'll tell her tonight."

That night, they all went to the karaoke bar on Grover St, where people made asses of themselves. They drank and sang. Ethan found the courage to ask Keera if she would sing a song with him, to which she said, "Yes."
They got on stage and Ethan picked the song--a song that reminded him of the way they met; in the rain--Umbrella.
Keera laughed as they sang. Ethan got really into it and stared into her eyes as they sang the chorus together.
"When the sun shine, we'll shine together.
Told you I'll be here forever.
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath, I'ma stick it out until the end.
But now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we'll still have each other.
And you can stand under my umbrella--
You can stand under my umbrella."
Keera could tell that Ethan was being serious--she thought he was just taking a stroll down memory lane, but he was actually starting a new path.
Then, Ethan belted, "You can run into my arms,
It's okay don't be alarmed...
I'll be all you need and more,
Because..."
Keera didn't know what to do or say. She put down her microphone and blushed.
"Oh, baby, it's raining.
Come into me..."
Ethan felt embarrassed again and dropped the microphone. He ran off stage and hid in the bathroom. Keera ran after him.
"Ethan?" she said and startled him.
"This is the guy's bathroom, Keera."
"I know--are you okay?"
"I'm so embarrassed..."
"Why?"
"Well--I mean...Why did you stop singing?"
"I'm sorry, you just caught me off-guard."
"I'm sorry."
She chuckled, "No need to be sorry, Ethan."
He looked down and said, "That day was the greatest day of my life."
She giggled and nodded her head, "It's weird; I always saw you walking around with an umbrella, except for that day."
"Yeah, the weather doesn't agree with me most of the time."
"I guess not," she giggled and walked to him. "So...you like me, huh?"
He nodded his head and looked up at her, "Would you say the feeling's mutual?"
"It was pretty cool how we met, huh?"
"Yeah," he chuckled and licked his lips, "I've been thinking a lot about you...in non-friends way."
She smiled and blushed. "Yeah...me too with you."
"Good."
They chuckled nervously. They took deep breaths in and exhaled, then chuckled again.
"So..." he said, "would you...like to go out with me? Sometime?"
"I'd love that."
