Forgiving and Running

Keera and Ethan were in her room making out on her bed. Keera started to unbuckle his pants, but he stopped her.
"What's wrong?" she asked him.
"Um," he chuckled nerviously, "I'm not ready."
"Oh..."
"Sorry."
"No, it's okay...No need to be sorry."
"It's just that I always thought I'd wait 'till marriage."
"Yeah, so did I."
He kissed her on the lips softly and sat next to her, "How did it happen?"
She sighed and sat up straight to face him, "Well," she said, "we were alone in his room...his parents were downstairs in the living room...one thing led to another...and...it happened."
"Why didn't you tell your parents?"
She sighed and began to get irritated, "I told you, Ethan, my family don't respond to this kind of thing well."
"So? It happened; something should be done."
"Let's just drop it, please?"
Ethan sighed and took her hand in his, "Keera, I'm so in love with you and I want you to be well and happy."
"I am well and happy."
"Are you?"
Keera chuckled and nodded her head, "Yes." She tsked her tongue and added, "It's in the past, Ethan."
"How can you simply sweep something like that under the rug?"
She shrugged her shoulders and said, "It happened when I was fourteen, Ethan; I've had time to move on."
"I would never forgive my cousin for doing something like that to me."
"But I have. I've learned long ago that forgiveness is actually stronger than staying angry."
"How? He took your virginity...he's your cousin, Keera...He wasn't suppose to do those things to you."
"But he did and I've moved on, Ethan."
He sighed and shook his head, "I can't believe something like this would happen."
"But it did and it makes no sense to dwell on the past." She stood up and walked to the door. She opened it and pointed at the hallway saying to Ethan, "And if you're gonna keep talking about the subject, then kindly talk it with yourself on the way back to your room."
"No," he said, standing up from the bed, "I'm sorry--I'll stop."
Keera sighed and looked at him, "You will?"
"Yes...I don't want you mad at me."
She eyed him from head to toe and took a deep breath in. She closed the door and sat on the bed. Ethan sat next to her and began to kiss her lips, down to her neck. They cuddled for the rest of the night.

Keera couldn't sleep that night. She spent the whole night thinking about her relationship with Ethan.
