Capt. Deep stood at the wheel watching the waves roll by and slightly turned the wheel to go along with the direction of the winds. Britain was a good distance away and they had to cover a lot of ocean in a short amount of time. If they didn’t, the navy may move the key to a more secure location before she had a chance to get her hands on it.
Capt. Deep sighed. She called for Riisa, who was her best navigator. “Head up to the crows nest and see if anything’s headed our way that may delay us.”
“Aye Cap’n!” Riisa said, gleefully climbing up a new rope to the crows nest.
Capt. Deep looked down at her compass once more, and then Riisa called down to her with an urgent message, “Captain, there’s a ship at 6:00 behind us, gaining speed.”
Capt. Deep thought for a moment and told Riisa to keep an eye on the ship and let her know if the ship came frightfully close to them, and also to see if the ship was of friendly origin, had booty to take, or if It were merely a ship that meant nothing to them.
Riisa looked through her telescope and studied the ship. There were no flags fluttering above it, and by studying the ships look and design she assumed it was merely a merchant ship, and had no value to them whatsoever.
Riisa slid down the rope and reported her findings to Capt. Deep. “Very good news Riisa, help yourself to a shot of rum and head back up to the crows’ nest please.”
Riisa thanked the captain and darted down into the galley for a swig of rum.
