Well, for the most part the fair was actually really fun although I suppose I should start from where it all began.
About two to three weeks ago my mother had brought up the idea of going to a jousting festival. Well, everyone in the house since we all have extreme interest in theese kinds of things were very interested in going. So we go through the dreaded week of grape festival parking, and then clean up our house and finnally today rolls around. Now everyone in the house was all excited, except mom claimed she had to stay home and clean still, or at least get the car fixed. She wound up doing neither of course.
So our friend Amanda went with my two brother's and I. Thank god my oldest brother is old enough to drive his car. So anyways we finnally get into Angel's camp and after we get out of the car this guy comes over and claims he had some tickets that were for his friends who couldn't make it. So we bought them figuring that it really didn't matter anyways because we didn't know that those were for only performers, and that they were stolen. So after we check in with the security about the wrist bands they say we can go in and go off looking for the guy who sold them.
Well, we go in there and they had a magic show which was really cool, and hilarious. The guy swallowed a balloon and yeah it was some crazy stuff. I wound up getting a long sword and my brother got a scimitar before security pulled us into the office area and asked us a whole bunch of questions before letting us go. So finnally the jousting started, and it isn't just jousting. The jousters first have to get theese three rings onto the pole, or at least try to get as many as possible of course out of the three. Then after that they had to joust into this standing armor and avoid the flail in it's other arm, and for every rotation the jouster got a point. Which included one point if they knocked the helmet off.
Then the main and most awsome part of the tournament started, the actual jousting. They had to hit this large flat peice of metal on the other jousters shoulder for one point, and if they could smash their lance they got two. It was five for knocking the guy off the horse, but they never got that, only close. It was crazy all of the things those jousters go through. One of the newer horses got scared and literally took a crap right there on the line, though it wouldn't run.
So anyways back to wristband thing, about partway into the jousting security comes by and then finnally asked us about the bands and stamped our hands like we were suppossed to have. The director wanted us out and it was really scary but all the security guys really didn't want to kick us out so it was still good. In the end of that situation I wound up seeing the guy and we turned him in. Though he got away before they could find him again, I still got a free meal and a soda.. but so did the guy who stole the things before they found out who he was. Although he was dumb enough to voulenteer there six years in a row before pulling it off so I'm sure they will catch him.
Anyways the last part of the jousting was amazing, like they came full charge and one guy smashed his lance into four parts. My friend amanda got one of those renassaince dresses, and oh my god she looked friggen hot O,O. *cough cough* anyways, sir charles had won the tournament with a broken hand, which is really amazing, and with that we ended our day.
