Gale and the others were sitting around the fire eating the meal Ellie and Miko had prepared. They had seen no signs of Deddo since the night before and were begining to worry. "Gale.... do you think they will send another ambush....?" Gale sighed. "Yeah... they probably will... it will be even bigger next time..." Koujin smiled. "That just means Ill have another chance to beat you." Gale looked at him. "Yeah.... just another chance for ME to beat YOU." They laughed. Keiko who had been silent the whole time stood up. "Is that all you idiots care about!? Your little contest is so important that you would risk your friends and family?!" Gale sighed and stood up as well. "Since when have you cared about anyones family?! You let your own family die while you ran for your life.... Or have you forgotten that? I've have been searching for three years to find my sisters... what have you been doing?" Keiko turned away. "H..hiding..." Gale sat back down. "I know when it is time to fight and when it is time to have fun.... And there will never be an ambush large enough to bring all of us down." Koujin shook his head. "You two always seem to argue with each other...... Someone might think you two were married..." Gale and Keiko glared at him. "Uhh... not that I do... or anything...." He looked away from them. "Why don't you both stop argueing and enjoy the food...." "She is right kid... this may be one of our last chances to rest like this.. Might as well enjoy it while its here..." Keiko walked towards the woods. "I'm gonna go for a walk..." Gale sighed. "I'm not going to appologize..." Cid smacked him. "If you won't appologize then just eat...." Gale laughed. "Fine fine...." They finished eating but Keiko had still not returned. "Should we go look for her? "She can take care of herself... I hope..."
At the end of the forest Keiko was staring into the water of the river that ran behind the mountain. "Why does that memory have to haunt me...."
Three years earlier.
The village where Gale and his family lived was Keiko's home as well. They had been neighbors. Gale and Keiko had just gotten back into the village to see it burning down. "Keiko... it... its the Deddo. They came back.... We have to go help..." Keiko backed up. "N...no It is to dangerous." Gale turned to her. "What about your family?!" "I.. I can't go in there just to die...." She turned and ran into the woods. Gale sighed and ran into the village. "Koujin!! Ellie!! Miko!!" Koujin walked up to him slightly beaten up. "They have Ellie... and Miko.... They killed their parents.... and..." Gale nodded. "I understand.... Meet here once we find them right?" "That was his plan.." Gale and Koujin took off in diffrent directions. As the fires died down Keiko walked slowly into the ruined village. "M..mom?" She came across her house. Her father lay dead outside the door with his sword in hand. "He.. fought to save them..." Her mother was on the inside. She had been killed as well. "Little brother?" Keiko walked inside her house. "Anyone here?" She moved around a corner into her brother's room. Inside was a Deddo with a dagger in its skull but no sign of her brother. "Brother?" She looked around what was left of her house but he was no where to be found. "They took you didn't they..." She fell to the ground--
"Keiko... Wake up...." She heard Gale's voice and felt herself being picked up. "This isn't a safe place to be sleeping..." Gale was carrying her back to the others. "It... was that dream again...." Gale sighed. "I thought it would be.... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything..." "No.. you were right... I ran away and let my family die... and now my brother is..." "Stop worrying about it.... We will get him back..." They reached the clearing where the others were sleeping. "What if...--" Something began to move in the bushes. "Hm...?" Gale turned around and sat Keiko down. "Who's there.." Sounds began to come from all around them. "Keiko wake up the others." Koujin was already next to Gale. "Looks like they wanted to attack while we slept." "Their mistake..." Cid now stood behind them along with Ellie and Miko. Keiko was on the other side of Gale. Something erupted from the bushes and lunged at Keiko.
